Reunion Arena First

Karpun scored his first indoor soccer goal at Reunion Arena as a member of the Tampa Bay Rowdies during a January 1983 exhibition with the Tulsa Roughnecks.

Sidekicks Firsts

Karpun scored the first ever goal in Sidekicks history was scored on October 19, 1984 during an exhibition match with the Tacoma Stars at the Budweiser Classic in Wichita, Kansas.
Karpun received the assist on the Sidekicks first Regular Season goal on November 2, 1984.
Scored the Sidekicks first Game Winning Goal on December 8, 1984 vs Cosmos SC.
Scored two goals each in back-to-back games on the following dates:
1. December 8, 1984 vs Cosmos (also one assist)
2. December 11, 1984 vs Kansas City
Became the first Sidekick to reach 10 goals in a season on December 14, 1984.
The Sidekicks first ever Playoff goal was scored by Karpun against the Minnesota Strikers on April 12, 1986 (at Blommington, Minnesota)

Where Did He Go?

Mark Karpun left the Sidekicks on September 4, 1990. After coming to terms with the Sidekicks, he changed his mind and signed with the Tacoma Stars due a reduction in the salary cap for the 1990-91 season to be closer to his family (he lived in Vancouver in the off-season.)

Karpun played two season for the Stars (who folded as the MSL did in 92), playing at least one season for the Vancouver 86rs of the Canadian Soccer League.

Karpun currently is firefighter in Delta, British Columbia.
