• 1989: Jorge Acosta scored his first goal as a Sidekick.

Things Best Left Forgotten

• 1987: Zoltan Toth became the first Goalkeeper to score a goal against the Sidekicks (and the first Sockers Goalkeeper to score a goal). Terry Bigham described the event in the Dallas Morning News the following day:

With :38 seconds left, San Diego was called for its sixth team foul -- it had played for more than six minutes with five fouls -- to send a man to the penalty box. Twenty-six seconds later, Stride took a shot from 30 feet out that Toth saved and Sidekicks midfielder Kevin Smith, the sixth attacker, could not recover as the Sockers goalie bounced a pass just inside the Sidekicks' redline and into the empty net.
