• 2003: The new-MISL granted conditional approval for two teams to begin play in the 2003-04 season:
  • St. Louis Steamers
    • The Steamers joined the new-MISL along with the Sidekicks and San Diego, but was listed as "inactive" for the 2002-03 season as new owners were sought for the club.
  • Texas Outlaws of Laredo.
