How He Got Here

Sagu toured the WISL as the Goalkeeper for the "Brazil" team in 1999. After the tour ended, the Sidekicks signed him to a contract on September 10, 1999.

Sagu became the first goalkeeper ever to wear a Sidekicks uniform to score a goal. On September 26, 1999 at home vs the Portland Pythons, Sagu made a routine save, and then threw the ball the length of the field (bouncing the ball over the head of the Portland 6th Attacker just inside the far red line) and into the open net as time expiried in the game.

Because the Sidekicks were playing shorthanded due to John-Olu-Molomo being ejected at 10:48 of that same quarter, the linescore of the goal was recorded as "Sagu (unassisted, SHG, Empty Net) 15:00."

• Sagu suffered a groin injury on October 12, 2001 at Utah and was unable to finish the match.
• Another groin injury forced Sagu from the match on October 13, 2002 vs. Baltimore.
• Sagu aggravated a groin injury during a 10-9 loss at Kansas City on February 7, 2004 and was placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season on February 11, 2004.

2000

• Scored the second goal of his career vs La Raza de Monterrey on September 17 as well as assisting on two other goals in the same game.

2001

• earned his first career shutout on October 7 at St. Louis.
• earned shutout #2, a Sidekicks record, on November 23 vs. Sacramento.
• Saved the Championship for the Sidekicks by making a diving save 1 minute into Overtime during the mini-game of the Championship series on December 22 at San Diego.

2002-03

• broke the Sidekicks records for a goalkeeper during this season:

• Shut out La Furia de Monterey in 59:33 of play, but earned 2 penalties, both resulting in goals on Opening Day 2003.
• Scored the third goal of his career in a match vs. Philadelphia on October 22.
• Blocked a penalty kick at Baltimore on October 24.
• Earned a personal best two assists while only allowing two goals at St. Louis on November 22.
• Faced a season high 31 shots, making a season best 26 saves at La Furia on November 30.
• Earned a 5 minute misconduct penalty, but made 5 saves on 7 shots faced vs. Cleveland on December 12.
• Faced a season high-tieing 31 shots, making 23 saves at Kansas City on December 31.

2012-13

• Shutout Harrisburg for 30 minutes on Opening Night while allowing only 2 goals.
