Smith became the first Sidekicks player to be credited with the "decision"
(win or loss) who was not a Goalkeeper (as his natural position).
- Smith entered
the game as an Emergency Goalkeeper. He lost the match 5-9 vs San
Diego.

Uremovich missed this home match due to a concussion suffered in the previous
evening's match at Kansas City. Uremovich had played in every Sidekicks game
ever played to that point: a streak that ended at 132 consecutive games.

- 1990:
With the Sockers set to win
a 9-5 match at Dallas, a fight broke out between the two clubs with 4 seconds
to go in the match. Richard Chinapoo,
Doc Lawson and Terry
Woodberry of the Sidekicks and Ralph Black and Cacho of the Sockers to
the penalty boxes. Neither side would explain what sparked the outburst.
Labor Strife
- 1988: The MISL
Players Association announced they had taken the owners up on their offer
of looking at the non-player salary expenses of league teams. This was in
response to an ultimatum presented by the team owners on the players to accept
a salary cap or to have the league disolved.
