After Tatu was injured in the first regular season game at Tacoma, the Sidekicks tried to find a player who would replace even a portion of his offensive output for the season. Dallas thought it had worked out a deal with Tacoma, but the Stars instead traded him to St. Louis for Charlie Falzone and cash on December 4, 1987.
Ingram finally arrived in Dallas on January 11, 1988 in a deal with the St. Louis Steamers that cost Dallas their first and second round draft choices in the 1988 MISL draft and $75,000 cash.

Disputed Departure
Godfrey Ingram was released on November 19, 1988 (4 games into the season) due to his being "emotionally unhappy" then-Coach Gordon Jago told the Dallas Morning News. Ingram disputed the characterization in an interview with the Dallas Morning News the next day saying:
Somebody called me and told me I was being portrayed as an unhappy player, Ingram said. Myself and my wife have never been happier and for him to say that . . . I can't believe he would bend the truth like that. I just think it is out of order for him to say things that just aren't true. If he wants to release me, that's one thing I can handle. But when it comes to telling untruths I really get a little unhappy about it...He (Jago) went through so much trouble to get me, said Ingram, and I just can't believe the sudden turnaround.
Ingram then returned to Tacoma for the remainder of the 1988-89 season before moving back to the St. Louis Storm for the remainder of his life in the Major Indoor Soccer League.
*-Personal Fouls were not an official MISL Statistic until the 1990-91 Season.
