• 1986: Facing a June 1 deadline imposed by then-owner Don Carter to find a new owner for the club or see it fold, the Sidekicks received 7 telephone calls today pledging between $5,000 and $200,000 in support. A group headed by Dallas businesswoman Jan Rodgers,that would become the Sidekicks 1, Ltd. investment group that eventually would buy the franchise, welcomed the assistance, which would supplement the 5 person ownership group that made the initial proposal to Mr. Carter to buy the club.
