Bidding War

1987: David Kessler, the agent for Tacoma goalkeeper Joe Papeleo, announced that Dallas had enterered what is now a four team bidding war for Papeleo's services (he became a free agent at the end of the MISL Championship series.)

Kessler met with Sidekicks coach Gordon Jago today and discussed "numbers and other things" for a long term contract. Papeleo would eventually sign with the Sidekicks and stay for the next 7 years, retiring after the 1994 season.
