Saving the Sport

1988: Joe Papeleo, who joined the Sidekicks from Tacoma, acted as the "middle man" in organizing a new ownership group for Tacoma. The MISL Board of Governors approved the "new franchise" on this date. Papeleo's action likely saved the sport of indoor soccer, as the MISL owners were not prepared to continue the league without at least 7 teams.
