Lugris was selected by Cosmos SC of the NASL of the 1982 North American Soccer League draft.
Lugris scored the first goal in the history of the American Indoor Soccer Association (later the National Profesional Soccer Leaue, now the new-Major Indoor Soccer League as of 2001) during the league's inaugural match for the Columbus (Ohio) Capitals against the Kalamazoo Kangaroos on November 4, 1984.
Lugris was named to the AISA All-Star Game in 1987 and also was Fort Wayne's MVP.
Lugris played for the Puerto Rican "national" team (Puerto Rico is a U.S. Commonwealth) from 1984-1987.
