1993: Sidekicks
coach Gordon Jago and San Diego Sockers coach Ron Newman were appointed co-Chairmen
of the CISL Rules committee. Among the changes they proposed, and were adopted
by the CISL were a penalty arc instead of the traditional box were the goalkeeper
stood, using a size 4 ball (as is used in futsal, indoor soccer's no-walls
cousin), and replacing the goal kick with a throw in by the goalkeeper.
