  • A snowstorm in Baltimore, where the Sidekicks had played on February 15, forced the cancellation of most flights leaving Baltimore-Washington Airport, including all the flights to Dallas.

Promotional Efforts

• 1990: A description of an unusual promotion for today's Sidekicks game appeared in the Dallas Morning News earlier in the month:

  Now, here's a sweet idea.

  The Dallas Sidekicks are creating a special Singles Section for their post-Valentine's Day game with the Tacoma Stars on Feb. 16. The event is co-sponsored by Y95 radio and Carmello Candy, which will give free candy to the first 2,000 people entering Reunion Arena that night.

  When calling to purchase tickets, you need only specify you want to sit in the Singles Section. Males will be assigned odd-numbered seats and females even-numbered seats. The Sidekicks promise an exciting game and enough light to see who you're talking to.

  For halftime entertainment, a random selection of couples from the Singles Section will compete for prizes in the Carmello Sweetheart Scramble, a tag team obstacle course.
