SIDEKICKS HOST WESTERN CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT SEPT. 14-15
DALLAS - The Dallas Sidekicks host the Major Indoor Soccer League Western Conference preseason tournament September 14-15 at Inwood Soccer Center.
The Sidekicks start the event Saturday September 14 with a game against the Kansas City Comets at 10 a.m. The second game is the Milwaukee Wave against the San Diego Sockers at 12:15 p.m. Sunday starts with San Diego facing Kansas City at 10 a.m. followed by the Sidekicks against Milwaukee at 12:15 p.m.
The tournament is open to the public. Doors open at 9 a.m. and admission is $5 at the door. There is no pre-sale of tickets. More information is available at 214-653-0200.
The Sidekicks begin their fifth season under player/coach Tatu. The Sidekicks have advanced to the championship in each of his first four seasons at the helm, winning the 1998 and 2001 WISL titles. He is in his 21st professional season as a player and his 18th with the Sidekicks.
The Sidekicks return 16 members from the 2001 championship roster. That includes two-time WISL goalkeeper of the year, Sagu, as well as 11th year Sidekicks' David Doyle and Nick Stavrou. Defenders Rusty Troy and Michael Powers retired following the 2001 season.
The Sidekicks open the season Saturday September 28 at 7:05 p.m. at Reunion Arena. The game will be a meeting of the champions in the first league game following the WISL and MISL merger. The 2001 WISL Champion Dallas Sidekicks host the 2002 MISL Champion Philadelphia Kixx. The Sidekicks will present their fourth championship banner before the game. The 2001 WISL banner will join the 1987, 1993, and 1998 banners in the rafters at Reunion Arena.

Training camp practices are held at Inwood Soccer Center. Players will be available immediately following the conclusion of each practice. Practices are open, so feel free to arrive anytime during the session. Some sessions will be held away from Inwood, but the players will return there after training and will be available.
Directions to Inwood Soccer Center (located near Belt Line and the Tollway): From the Tollway, proceed west on Belt Line, then take a left at Addison/Inwood Road. The facility is 4/10 of a mile south of Belt Line. There is a sign with an orange soccer ball on the right. Proceed down the short entry road and Inwood Soccer Center will be on the right.
